I really enjoy following along your adventures. We’re not able to hike much but we still enjoy the outdoors and I do love when you share your paintings and sketches. Are you about to share your colors you used in your Demi palette for the arch painting? I also assume you switch them out when you move to different places.
Hi Laurie! I just updated my Folio palette -- you know me to well! :) The Demi palette I mostly keep the same -- I should do a post soon with all of my palettes, but in the meantime here's what I had on the Demi -- DS = Daniel Smith, H = Holbein, W = Winsor & Newton
- DS Hansa yellow medium
- H yellow ochre
- DS quinacridone rose
- DS transparent red oxide
- DS ultramarine blue
- WN cobalt turquoise light (this is the only one I'm really picky about, others can be any brand)
- DS phthalo green (blue shade)
- DS Indigo
I like to mix cobalt turquoise light and ultramarine blue for the sky out here!
Thank you so much!! I have so much trouble getting a sky color I like but also the rock colors are unusual for me since I’ve spent most of my time in the east. Looking forward to some western travels soon!
When we visited Capitol Reef in 2024, we disappointingly found Scenic Drive closed for repaving south of the Gifford House area. Regarding lunch/dinner —> linner, Eve and I similarly use lupper as a portmanteau for lunch/supper.

Hi Steve! We noticed that the road was nice and smooth and we were guessing it was recently repaved. Sorry it was closed when y'all were there!
Also, I love "lupper"! Gonna have to start using that one :)
