Each National Park is different, so you have to check the application for them. I found Valles Caldera because we'd been here before back in 2018, and as I was researching the park for an upcoming trip I saw their call for artists and had to apply! I haven't found a good way to find residencies -- I just check parks that I love or want to go to and see what might be a good fit.
I've been doing a mix of hikes to take reference photos, field trips to learn about the park, preparing for the workshops and painting, painting and more painting! I only have 2 weeks left so I'm really focusing on painting now.
