Lisa ..... You mentioned a water color demo and a journal sketching wksp when you are at Canyon of the Ancients. Any chance these could be recorded? Then your great group of aficionados could glean some tidbits.
Yay! I'm catching up with you! I just wanted to say congratulations on your artist's residency!!!
When my hubby and I were touring the different parks and national monuments in the Four Corners area, Hovenweep was our stop in Utah. It was so cool seeing the building methods change as we went from one park to the next!
We were in Joshua Tree around this time of year in 2020. I'm a little shocked that you're saying it was really busy. It was pretty calm when we were there, but maybe we were there on less busy days of the week? My screensaver on my laptop is pictures from our time there and some at Cabrillo which we went to after Joshua Tree. I took sooooo many pictures and loved them all!
Anyway, I hope you have a fabulous time at Canyons of the Ancients National Monument!!!
We haven't been to Utah yet -- it's on our list! Can't wait!
And yes, Joshua Tree was really busy! The campgrounds were pretty much all full on the weekends. It was better during the week, but the park itself was still crowded. Once we did harder trails or someplace requiring 4WD/high clearance vehicle it was better.
Thanks for the well wishes for CANM! I'm super excited!
Congratulations on your upcoming residency, Lisa. You are living the dream, and I'm enjoying the heck out of your delightful travelogues. Sally's heart-filled page made me smile. What a lovely memento of your special friendship. Happy trails!
Congratulations on your residency!
Thanks so much, Mary! I'm super excited!

May you experience the opposite of dolores in Dolores [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolores_(given_name)].
