Hovenweep and CANM both hold a special place in my heart. I really miss living in both Colorado and Arizona so that access to these special places was easy. The ancient Puebloans and Sinagua people were so cool.
Of course it’s always awesome to see the art that you are inspired to create as well! Safe travels.
P.S. If you’re contemplating summer locations I’d say come north to the Bighorns in Wyoming!
Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness Lichens! My favorite of your marvelous landscapes in this post. I’m reading Lichenpedia by Kay Hurley, a mind opening experience, so it really surprised me to see the colorful haze of the lichen landscape. Thank you again for sharing your experiences of wonder.
Lisa, my favorite part was you returning to the sites that inspired your lovely paintings and photographing them together. How did you achieve that eye-popping granulation in the single sherd painting? Wow!!
My husband and I are traveling to the southern Utah/Colorado area this fall in our motorhome. I'm excited to be following in your footsteps, in a manner of speaking, and appreciate seeing the wonders of that area through your eyes. Your paintings and photos are helping us decide where to visit and hike. Also, I hope to see your paintings when we visit! Happy Trails!!
It's been a really long time since my hubby and I toured the four corners and visited Hovenweep, but I have strong memories of a rock that was split that I think we had to walk through (because it triggered my claustrophobia). I want to say it was a trail from the campground and it took a lot of mental strength for me to make it through to the other side, especially knowing that I would have to do it in reverse to get back! I'm sure our pictures from the trip are somewhere in our house, but sadly I don't have a lot of memories of Hovenweep other than that rock. I appreciate the wonderful pictures you've shared!
Mind blown about all of the different colors and types of rock in this week's post! I never expected to see the grey/black/tan from the Angel Creek area and parts of the Ah-shi-sle-pah Wilderness!! So cool and interesting!
Thanks so much for sharing! I'm so excited to see your posts about Chaco because my memories of visiting there are of complete wonder!!!
That King of Wings is fantastic. Hard to believe it's real.
It’s so unreal! And hiking through the wild landscape to get there makes it all the more amazing!
Love those rock formations. Photos are gorgrous
Thanks so much, Jean! ❤️
I have loved all of these adventures. We were in many of this weeks adventures 2 years ago but didn't camp. Thanks so much for sharing
Hi Anita! It’s so amazing out here! Never enough time to see and explore everything tho ! Glad you liked the photos and thanks for following along! ❤️

We haven’t been to Wyoming yet — can’t wait to get there!!! Maybe next summer — this year we need to be in Ohio for my Dad’s 80th birthday! 🎉❤️

I love seeing your shots of the Bisti Badlands. It's on my list to visit, but it's just a bit too far away for a weekend trip.
Even the views from the van are stunning! Such beautiful country!
