So now you've put out as many posts as Heinz traditionally claimed for pickles. According to AI:
The "57" on Heinz bottles, specifically the glass ketchup bottles, is a branding legacy from the early days of the company. In 1896, H.J. Heinz chose the number 57 for his "57 Varieties" slogan, even though the company already offered more than 60 products. He liked the number 57, finding it to be lucky and memorable, according to Heinz. It's not a count of the number of products, but rather a marketing strategy that stuck and is still used today. The "57" also serves as a designated spot on the bottle to tap for easier ketchup flow from the glass bottles, according to Heinz.
That's too funny! And here's a weird random fact: when I was growing up, my Dad worked in Pittsburgh and we could see the Heinz building from his office! He's the reason I got into computers -- he let me press keys on the mainframe and play with key punch cards. :)
Sorry for the rude people that don't understand how to care for the world around them. I love the photos today and the wild flowers. Did my own hiking this week up on the north shore by Lake Superior. A great time for wild flowers and luckily no bears. ( We have run into them occasionally on the Superior hiking trail. Did a bit of drawing of wildflowers myself. So nice to be out even without mountains around.
Thanks so much, Joanne! And yay for hiking, drawing, and wildflowers! It's always good to get out in nature. Do you carry bear spray there? We've been carrying it with us anytime we go off main trails here. So far so good!
I would it we were out further on the Superior Hiking Trail but we were doing a short one mile hike in the city section of Duluth so really where not geared up for a big hike. The bears tend to come in to the city through the woods around the Superior trail mostly in the early spring when they are hungry from the winter. Always a bit of a surprise when they should up in the summer. I suppose it would be wise to have some along when we hike up there. Although less than a mile from where we were the city kids day camp was loud and enjoying the summer games in the wood close to the Nature Center. All fun in the woods.
Lovely post. Thank you so much for respecting that bison’s space — and for having the courage to warn someone else to do the same. Too many of Yellowstone’s magnificent wild creatures pay a heavy price because people
Thanks, Linda! We just had to say something -- it was a woman and two kids -- we almost couldn't believe our eyes -- and ears -- as she screamed for them to hurry up and get a photo with the buffalo.
We've seen so many people acting irresponsibly here, not only to the wildlife but also the landscape. It's been hard not to yell!
